In a year where the digital landscape has continued to evolve at an accelerated rate and measuring and planning projects with Biodiversity Net Gain has remained a key priority, 2022 has seen CloudScapes emerge with a new brand and digital presence.
For almost 30 years, we have supported and promoted cutting edge digital landscape design practices – providing landscape architects and designers with software and design tools in CAD and REVIT environments. 2022’s activity has only intensified this approach.
Cloud-based BIM for landscape
Our focus remains on ArtisanRV and cloud-based BIM for landscape solutions within REVIT. 2022 has been a positive year of progress and innovation as we move forward, working with globally-recognised landscape practices, instrumental industry experts and hands-on practitioners starting on, or moving forward on, their BIM journeys.
In tune with REVIT
We added extra ArtisanRV functionality with new tools in concept plant tagging, topos and floors. In tune with the REVIT development curve, our new fully compatible ArtisanRV 2023 version was launched, ensuring a seamless switch and landscape continuity for those upgrading to the latest REVIT platform.
Affordable Landscape CAD
In the Spring, we rolled out Artisan for BricsCAD as a serious alternative to ArtisanACAD (AutoCAD add-in) at a much lower cost – opening the landscape design gates wider to a broader audience. Both ArtisanACAD and ArtisanBC now also feature new Terrain Tools – enabling topographies to be created directly in Revit.
Landscape industry influence
In May, we joined the Landscape Institute in their President’s Celebration at the National Theatre in London. As Category Sponsors of Digital Visualisation at the LI Awards 2021, we attended alongside some of the most influential landscape architecture dignitaries
Working with super-user and architect Ricardo Torres Corza, CloudScapes has published articles, tutorials and digital content throughout 2022 to support and challenge the landscape industry as we move closer to BIM and a digital data-rich, 3D modelled landscape.
A futureproof landscape
Led by Tim Calnan, the CloudScapes technical team has delivered live demonstrations and presentations to landscape practices and organisations across the world. Closer to home, we continue to collaborate on Research and Development projects with Nottingham University while assisting Manchester Metropolitan University students in their Landscape Architecture studies using ArtisanRV.
Ahead into 2023
Momentum is key into 2023 and beyond. The CloudScapes team are already deep into a number of exciting developments for next year. Think 3D models, coupled with real-time rendering in Revit; virtual reality; landscape visualisation with data-rich plants and hardscape models; live product libraries and families; automated reporting; sustainability and BNG methods, metrics and measures.
